Scalia Ridicules Global Warming Plaintiffs

Posted by liaison on November 30, 2006

My sincere thanks again go to Arianna Huffington’s Huffington Post for being the marvelous news and commentary site they are. I saw this news on her site : U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s comments to the plaintiffs in the Global Warming case before the Court. Scalia shows complete contempt for the entire subject of global warming.

It’s a sad and discouraging day when a U.S. Supreme Court Justice ridicules the world on the topic of global warming. Antonin Scalia, a Ronald Reagan nominee to the Court, has just shown himself for the boorish buffoon he is. Scalia comes off as a small minded schoolyard bully yelling “Make me!” when anyone asks him to “reason with me for a moment on this serious topic.”

His comments in open court display a sociopathic attitude towards the lifeform we call “Planet Earth.”

Maybe he’s too old. Maybe he’s too tired. Maybe he hasn’t the aptitude for the job. Maybe the growth of science and technology have overly taxed his intellect. Maybe he needs a short timeout in the principal’s office to adjust his attitude toward this, his serious job of adjudicating tough environmental issues that ultimately will decide the fate of PLANET EARTH – THE LARGEST LIVING ORGANISM IN THE UNIVERSE.

BUSH’S IRAQ CIVIL WAR

Posted by liaison on November 27, 2006

BUSH’S IRAQI CIVIL WAR

It’s official, now, contrary to the Bush administration (We’re still winning, ya right.)

NBC, MSNBC characterized it as “civil war” this morning. The Huffington Post and the LA Times began last week.

I said it to myself last September or October, but it may have actually been
so back in the summer (2006). It would depend upon whose definition you
use. By September, 2006, it seemed to have spun into Civil War, purely
looking at the situation, listening to the bodycounts rise, listening to the
Whitehouse/neocon spin versus the reality of the television images, judging from
the gut of the American People. We felt it, we knew it then.

The media coverage of the war has been sanitized from day one, as the
Whitehouse declared the coffins of returning killed American Service Men and
Women to be off limits to the media. The Whitehouse would like to keep
sanitizing the images that we see on the news, but they can no longer do so.

The Bush fellas would very much like to see the declaration of Civil War
stalled until a month or so after the Democrats take over the Congress.
But it won’t wait, Mr. Bush.

Five Sunni insurgency car bombs blowup on Thanksgiving
day in a Shia neighborhood, killing 200, plus or minus. The next day the Shia
militia retaliates, dousing 6 Sunni’s in gasoline, torching and killing them
while the Iraqi army looks on. Next day, RPG’s pound American
positions. The Iraqi Civil War is here, and now.

This in no way resembles the neighborhoods in which either you, Mr. Bush, grew up in. Nor does this scene resemble the neighborhoods of Iraq before you invaded the country, Mr. Bush. These scenes resemble no other neighborhood or street, that I know of, and certainly neither Midland nor Arlington,Texas.

Wake up and see the coffins of American and Iraqi bodies, Mr. Bush. This
THING that is consuming Iraq – it is now a civil war. Your arrogance, deception,
delay, stubbornness, and stupidity created this THING. As you were advised, “You break it, you own it!”
THIS IS HEREBY YOUR IRAQI CIVIL WAR, MR BUSH. Quit being such a coward and own up to the facts.

“Our Wile E. Coyote Moment in Iraq” – by Larry Arnstein

Posted by liaison on November 26, 2006

Larry Arnstein, a partner in the hilarious Ironic Times , also writes for the Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington’s wonderful online news-blog magazine. Mr. Arnstein’s latest piece, Our Wile E. Coyote Moment in Iraq, satirizes our current situation in Iraq, comparing George W. Bush to the Wile E. Coyote of the RoadRunner cartoons, who has just rollerskated over the edge of a cliff, yet hangs momentarily in thin air, not yet comprehending that there is no earth under him, and that he is freefalling. The Wile E. Coyote-in-Chief has not yet seen the desperation of his situation, nor that of his party, this country, nor most of all, the plight of the innocent people of IRAQ.

This was my response on The Huffington Post:

It makes you want to cry doesn’t it? Or wail and pound the earth with your fists. One day five car bombs driven by Sunni’s blowup and kill 200 or so Shiites, wounding hundreds more, and the next day, horror of horrors, the Shiites douse 6 Sunni’s with gasoline and torch them as the Iraqi army looks on.It seems that the Huffington Post and the LA Times are now the first two newspapers to call it a civil war. Most people are still asking the question, “Is it, or is it not, a civil war, yet?”

The U.S. military is already stretched so thin that we can’t adequately police Iraq. And the Wile E. Coyote-in-Chief wants to bomb both North Korea and Iran.

Until his last day in the administration, Rumsfeld was proclaiming to the heavens how successful the U.S. forces were in the initial Iraq war. And now, the Iraqis simply can’t hold it together, implying that it’s their own fault. Not so however, as to both the initial war and the civil war. For starters, any WMD that might have existed, tens of thousands of tons of conventional explosives, and hundreds of thousands of firearms have disappeared into the deserts of the middle east. HOW? We didn’t go in, in the initial war stage, with enough troops. We didn’t disarm the militias, secure the weaponry, or the country.

The Iraqis don’t deserve this. They are paying a fiercely high price for the U.S.’s stupidity and arrogance. We either didn’t do our homework on Iraq and the region’s politic, or we lied our way into this war, turned civil war. Outside forces have destabilized Iraq, just as the U.S. is now doing the same to Pakistan and Iran.

Wile E. Coyote-in-Chief will hit the bottom of this chasm in a cloud of dust. He’ll look up just in time to see the Acme Anvil fall on his head, and that of the Republican Party, and the nation.

This quagmire will get far worse before it gets better. Tony Blair is getting outbefore September of 2007,  in time to go into hiding from the press. Same with Rumsfeld. Bush’s Daddy’s friends and the new Sec. of Def. Gates will have their hands full trying to salvage younger Bush’s presidential legacy. Like Wile E. Coyote, and O.J. Simpson, it may be too late to save Bush, our nation’s pride, or the people of Iraq.

“Beep! Beep! Mr. Bush!!”

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Posted by liaison on November 24, 2006

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!!!!
A sit down meal with family and friends. Can anyone think of a better way to spend Thanksgiving Day? I doubt it. It’s the best that I can come up with. And we had a wonderful meal.

We made a list of the things for which we are grateful this year. They ranged from the serious – our Service Men who protect us – to the silly and the loveable – Charles, the family coonhound who waited patiently outside the backdoor for turkey scraps.

Note to my brother-in-law: Man, that was the best turkey, ever. Charles said so, too, we think.

Maybe this should have been posted two days ago, but there was urgent business to get out of the way before we could enjoy the holiday. (Shhhh, now O.J., please be a sweety. Run outside and play in traffic for a while, okay honey. Don’t be so rude, the adults want to talk and enjoy life for a while. ) We had to make O.J. be quiet first, and we succeeded.

O.J. Confession: “…BLOODMONEY”

Posted by liaison on November 22, 2006

Please, please, please, won’t somebody make O.J. just S.T.F.U.  AND GO AWAY!!!!

<> (Here’s what he told the Associated Press today.)

LOS ANGELES –

O.J. Simpson told The Associated Press he participated in the ill-fated “If I Did It” book and interview project for one reason — personal profit, and he acknowledged that any financial gain was “blood money.”

“This was an opportunity for my kids to get their financial legacy,” Simpson said in interviews this week with the AP after the book deal was abandoned by its publisher. “My kids understand. I made it clear that it’s blood money, but it’s no different than any of the other writers who did books on this case.”

The part that just sent me into hysterics was the line about his kids financial legacy. LOL, for the love of God. Please, someone take this guy out of the limelight before we all throw-up in one massive National Thanksgiving Day Upheaval. ……….Ooooops, too late.
O.J., You and Murdoch are Skanky-Like-Skunks, okay. Just go away forever will you, go throw yourself off a bridge, or under a train, or something, …… oh never mind, this is like carrying on a conversation with a brick.

RUPERT MURDOCH SEES THE LIGHTS – MILLIONS OF US!!

Posted by liaison on November 21, 2006

UPDATE TO THE FOX – MURDOCH – O.J. SIMPSON BOYCOTT:

Murdoch, this afternoon backed down and agreed to not air the O.J. non-confession and to not publish the book.

Thank goodness for the decency of the American people to stand up against Murdoch and O.J. Had this contest of wills gone another week, I personally believe that FOX and Murdoch would have suffered great losses. Ahhhhh, the internet is a powerful tool.

I just posted the following, in reply to Nora Ephron’s “SAY IT AIN’T SO, RUPE” at Huffington Post. (Thank goodness for Arianna Huffington over there. She is a genuine lioness – fearless.)

Murdoch and O.J. Simpson deserve each other. They’re both skanky-like-skunks.

They are both out of touch with reality – the American zeitgeist – both of them thinking that O.J. is some loveable little teddy bear whose media image can be rehabilitated. (I shouldn’t be so harsh on them, as I, myself, was equally wrong as to the “Clean Up Charles Manson Projects” that have attempted to rehabilitate Manson’s image for years only to fail tragically time and again.)

What a tragedy it must seem to FOX Sports that the good American people simply won’t play their part in cleaning up O.J. Murdoch could almost hear O.J. again, up in the press box, screaming hysterically, “I thought I could cut and run, but just look at this mother____ fly!!”

Murdoch just doesn’t get it. He doesn’t seem to connect well with the American psyche. He and the neocon politicians he’s been pimping are out of touch with with the mainstream thought, as shown in the last elections. We hear from out of his mouthpiece, FOX News, that they are looking out for us, AS IF!

As if we need to be told by these skanky-like-skunk punks from FOX what is morally good for us. Listen to FOX news prattle on about how they know what’s best for us, and then watch them try to foist this Murdoch – O.J. off on us. No thanks, Rupe! We don’t need your skanky-ness guarding the hen house.

The American people were turning up the heat quickly on the boycott of FOX and Murdoch’s other companies. Murdoch, like a deer in the headlights, finally saw the lights – millions of us.

Good Cheer & Congratulations to Bloggers everywhere. You did it again.

Blessings to the Brown and Goldman families.

BOYCOTT OF FOX AND O. J. SIMPSON

Posted by liaison on November 20, 2006

NOVEMBER 20, 2006

ACTION ALERT: Ron Goldman’s Family calls for Boycott of FOX and O. J. Simpson. Join them now!

Sick of hearing about O.J. Simpson, again? Sickened that he’s being paid umpteen millions for this putrid book deal and interview on FOX? You’re not alone. There are millions of our good Americans who rightly see this as morally repugnant. We know in our hearts that this interview should not be aired on national television, and especially in the middle of the holiday season. I have spoken with people to get diverse opinions, and there is no one – right or left of center, or middle of the road – who is saying, “Hurrah for O.J.” – NOT A SINGLE ONE!

No one but Rupert Murdoch. He is the owner of HarperCollins (who is publishing the book), and FOX Broadcasting (who is airing the two hour interview with Simpson), and FOX News (who is hyping the book and interview). Murdoch owns NEWS Corp that owns them all. Bill O’Reilly, who works for Murdoch on FOX News is hyping the mess, all the while claiming to be the Culture Warrior (O’Reilly’s new book). He is, in all honesty, calling for a boycott of the interview and book, but then states that FOX News is in no way affiliated with FOX Broadcasting. That’s dishonest. At his boss’s behest he is deflecting criticism from FOX NEWS while hyping this travesty on FOX NEWS, the station he protects for his boss.

The Simpson non-confession will air Nov 27 & 29, at the end of the ratings Sweeps Week, in Murdoch’s skanky attempt to boost FOX’s ratings, and then be able to claim higher market share, and thus sell more advertising. Murdoch and FOX and HarperCollins are as morally repugnant as Simpson. This is murderous bloodmoney on which they are all profiting.

WE must speak powerfully to Murdoch and his companies, on behalf of our beliefs in American decency. We must act immediately!

I have, therefore, made my decision to join Ron Goldman’s Family in boycotting all FOX channels, HarperCollins, News Corp., Murdoch, and all of his companies and products. I will not watch FOX channels, or buy HarperCollins books for as long as it takes Murdoch to clean up his act. I urge you, too, to join the Goldman Family’s boycott.

Here some of the ways you can participate in the Goldman Family’s Boycott of FOX:

1. Email this information to everyone on your email lists. Believe me, they will all be grateful to learn of ways they can speak out on this.

2. Post this email on your blog, website, personal site, forum, or any other way you can think of to inform people.

3. Tell your friends, family, neighbors, groups, co-workers, and fellow church members. They will agree with you on this. They just haven’t been energized yet. But they are sickened by this and need this information.

4. This is very important: Sign the Goldman Boycott Signup at: Don’t Pay OJ.Com (http://www.dontpayoj.com/)

5. Sign this: Boycott Petition in response to FOX’s OJ Simpson television program

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/134434237

6. Call your local FOX affiliates and complain to them. Tell them you are disgusted and that you are boycotting their stations. Look under television stations in the yellow pages for FOX. Or, you can use this link to their website to list their affiliates: http://www.fox.com/links/affiliates.htm There are email addresses here, too:   FOX News Channel comments write to:     comments@foxnews.com

7 Write a letter to your local newspaper editor. Be nice and polite.

8. Make some copies of this email to hand out or post on bulletin boards.

9. Call a talk radio station and give them your thoughts, calmly and politely.

10. Turn off all FOX channels – Broadcasting, FX, Sports, News.

11. Don’t buy any more HarperCollins books.

12. Urge any FOX employees you might speak to, to call in sick on the days the shows are to air, Nov. 27 & 29, 2006.

13. Email Bill O’Reilly and urge the “Culture Warrior” to resign or donate a year’s pay to the Goldman Family.

We need for this blackout of FOX to continue throughout this entire time, through Dec 1. This would cause maximum impact on their ratings and cause the most loss to their ad revenues once the ratings week is over.

Please take action now. Do it for the Goldman Family and all that is decent in America. Please make a small start by forwarding this email to the people on your list. And then sign the Goldman Boycott: www.dontpayoj.com

Insurgent activity in Afghanistan has risen fourfold this year

Posted by liaison on November 13, 2006

This in from the AP about 2 hours ago:

KABUL, Afghanistan – Insurgent activity in Afghanistan

has risen fourfold this year, and militants now launch more than 600 attacks a month, a rising wave of violence that has resulted in 3,700 deaths in 2006, a bleak new report released Sunday found.

Last year there were 130 insurgent attacks a month in Afghanistan. This year in March there were 300 attacks; and, as of September of this year there were 600 attacks per month. The numbers of attacks per month has quadrupled since last year.

This year there have been 3700 casualties so far. This is 1000 more casualties than we lost in the World Trade Center Attack. And we have another 6 weeks to go this year. While this seems to not be a priority of Bush’s people at this time, perhaps it should be since we played a major part in invading Afghanistan and then in not staying the course long enough there to secure the place from insurgents.

We dropped the ball and walked away from the Afghan playing field somewhere around the halftime. Apparently what happened is that Bush, Rumsfeld, and their business cronies saw larger oil profits to be made in another game that was about to start in another arena. So at the end of halftime the coaches led us out the wrong lockerroom door and into a new arena.

Sure, Monday Morning Quarterbacking is the easiest part of the game, but (dammit!), there were people who saw what was happening at the time. “Aw, hookie on your bahookie, You’re unpatriotic and a terrorist!” That’s what they told anyone who noticed that something was amiss. And we were called traitors.

We were called traitors. And some of the mainstream media and pundits are still saying it. In fact Lynne Cheney, in the week leading to election day, questioned Wolf Blitzer’s intentions by asking him, “Do you want the US to win in Iraq?” Any time the neocons are asked an uncomfortable question, they have this nasty habit of deflection, that implies that the other opponent is less than a loyal American.

The world spectatorship are now clamoring for our return to the Afghan Arena. These are not wargames. This is a real country and the Afghans are real people. We helped create this situation and we have an ethical and moral responsibility to secure the peace in Afghanistan.

To Ann Coulter: “Need some cheese with that whine?”

Posted by liaison on November 9, 2006

Jeez, this faux-brained bimbo has enough whine to start her very own whinery. Call it Coulter Bleu-it. Coulter is toxic. Coulter is a fascist nazi-wannabe who openly claims Joseph McCarthy as her favorite politician of all time. She claims that he was misunderstood.

On Wednesday, November 8, 2006, the new Democrats do not yet have offices assigned to them, or staff, and Coulter is blowing up and making rude noises again.  Can you spell “s-o-u-r  g-r-a-p-e-s,” Ann?  She is a total bleeeeped! Wait, hold it, wait, wait, wait a minute. I won’t let myself stoop so low as to say the only words that adequately describe her. Really, she is “teh funny,” and simply not worth the energy. But the new congress, I’m sure, will enact a law requiring her to wear a Scarlet Swastika on her clothing at all times.

The Bleeped! Miss Coulter tried to vote in two precincts in the Florida primary back in February of this year. She was registered in two precincts in the same city.  She is currently under investigation, refusing to cooperate with investigators, and likely to be indicted this month. Her manner of voter fraud is a class D felony in Florida, where she lives.

And get this beside her picture it reads, “Ann Coulter is Legal Affairs Correspondent for HUMAN EVENTS….”

At one time chapter one of her dishonest, plagiaristic book, GODLESS, could be had for free online, offered as a teaser. That offer seems to have been removed. Too many people could not read through chapter one without first stockpiling barf bags to have handy by their reading table. As a conscientious liberal I decided to give her a read and “study the enemy.” I downloaded the free first chapter, and I literally could not make it through the chapter.
Ann Coulter is a complete and total bleepity, bleep, bleep bleeeeeep!!!, who needs to be thoroughly bleeeeped before we all permanently bleeeeeep her to bleeeep!!!! I am so proud that nowhere in this rant did I use any of the words: idiot, jerk, brainless, worthless, criminal, or drug-addicted. Nor did I accuse her of having been abducted by space aliens, tortured, and used for their mating experiments before being allowed to roam feral again.

Cindy Sheehan Arrested Delivering Petition to White House

Posted by liaison on November 9, 2006

Sheehan Arrested
Cindy Sheehan was arrested today outside the White House while attempting to deliver a petition containing 80,000 signatures, regarding the use of military force in IRAN.

<>Of Donald Rumsfeld’s firing she said, “He’s being offered as a sacrificial lamb.”Hmmm, Could be true. Rumsfeld’s firing may be enough to placate celebrating Democrats, misleading us into thinking that some tangible result has immediately been achieved in this election, meanwhile, life and death in Iraq continuing unchanged.

With Democrats in charge of the agendas in House and Senate, Mr Bush will try to  come back in two years and blame his further brilliant non-performance on gridlock with the New Congress.   Mr Bush should know that we are on to his tactic and we’ll be watching.

Iraq lawmakers extend state of emergency

Posted by liaison on November 8, 2006

Today 66 more bodies were found in Iraq:

Wednesday’s deaths included those of eight soccer players and fans cut down by a pair of mortar rounds that slammed onto a field in Baghdad’s Sadr City neighborhood.

Meanwhile, 2 more bodies of American troops were found, raising November’s troop deaths to 21.

All total, about 650,000 Iraqi civilians have died in this war.

It was indeed time for Rumsfeld to go. Mr Bush got himself beaten-up in the elections. Why did it take him and his party so long to react to the situation? Are they stupid? Or have they been failing to take the antidote to the Fundamentalist KoolAid they’ve been drinking.

Thank Goodness it has been a do-nothing congress, or we might have seen even worse than the Military Commissions Act of 2006 coming out of the Congress.

And whew, what a stinky election. The Republicans were at their absolute lyingest worst, behaving – SKANKY, LIKE SKUNKS.

HOUSTON MAYOR BLOCKS FLU SHOTS AT POLLS

Posted by liaison on November 3, 2006

Good grief! Now the Houston Republicans are carping about flu shots being a way to defraud voters or elections or something:

http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/view.php?StoryID=20061102-084010-2191r

Houston mayor drops flu shots at polls

HOUSTON, Nov. 2 (UPI) — The mayor of Houston has canceled a program that provided flu shots at early voting sites in poor black and Hispanic neighborhoods.

Harris County Republican Chairman Jared Woodhill charged that Mayor Bill White hoped to use the program to increase turnout in Democratic areas, to improve prospects for ballot propositions the mayor favors.

The Republicans are in denial of the fact that they have done nothing to guarantee medical treatments for all Americans. In fact, the free (a repugnant notion to Republicans) flu shots are some of the cheapest insurance to be had against the possibly fatal illness. Free flu shots will save us much $$$$ in indigent health care, and human lives, 37,000 deaths per year. (http://www.globalsecurity.org/security/ops/hsc-scen-3_flu-pandemic-deaths.htm)
It sounds to me like a confession by Republicans that these neighborhoods need more medical help which the “compassionate conservatives” have blocked at every turn.

Have you ever noticed that while the “compassionate conservatives” are in staunch denial of Darwinian Evolution, they nevertheless lean passionately toward the idea of “social evolution.” Every person for themself. Yet, the “compassionate conservatives” wallow without shame, gorging themselves at the pork trough of the tax payers’ money as if it were an entitlement of nobility . The cost of free nationwide flu shots is chicken feed compared to the billions we are botching away monthly in Iraq.

Free flu shouts would be a terrific bargain in health care savings.

Mike Stark Update

Posted by liaison on November 2, 2006

<>This is an update to the Mike Stark – George Allen dustup story. Allen, Rep. Sen., Tenn., was some hard question by Stark yesterday. Allen’s thugs tackled Stark, grabbing him in a choke hold, slamming him into a window, and then throwing him to the ground. Stark has talked to the local authorities about pressing charges.

And this is the part that is SO REPUBLICAN! Allen now blames his oppenent, Jim Webb, for instigating the attack. When you mess up, always blame the other guy, or anyone, really.
Va. Senator blames scuffle on Dem. foe http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061102/ap_on_el_se/virginia_senate

Blame Clinton for it, blame the economy for it, blame Hillary, blame Pelosi, blame gays, blame liberals – just find someone.

Today, the GOP House Majority Leader, John Boehner, blamed not G. W. Bush, not Don Rumsfeld, but the ground troops for the mess in Iraq. (translation, It’s not Bush’s fault, hell, Man, it’s not even Rumsfeld’s fault. It’s those slaggards on the ground.) Now how is Boehner getting away with this when they dogpile Kerry for one botched sentence.? And Kerry is the only one of them who has served in combat. Though, wikipedia does say this about Boehner, that he enlisted during the Viet Nam War, served 8 weeks, and was honorably discharged with a bad back. Talk about an abuse of service men and women, this is a supreme example of Republican hypocrisy.

In another update: The Young Turks on the Air America radio network have just announced that they have hired Mike Stark as a journalist. They praised him for his courage in asking the tough questions. I agree. If Allen and his party are running on a family values agenda, then the American people have the right to examine Allen’s alleged family values by asking the kink of questions that Stark was posing when he was illegally and needlessly attacked..

George Allen’s thugs attack Virginia constituent

Posted by liaison on November 1, 2006

How is this for a coincidence? Remember, I previously wrote about Bill O’Really making threats to one of his callers to send the FOX NEWS security and the local law to a caller’s home? The caller began mentioning how he listens to the Keith Olbermann Show and O’Really cut him off and threatened him.

The caller’s name is Mike Stark and he is making news again, this time in an altercation with Republican Senator George Allen of Virginia, who is now lagging behind his Democratic challenger, Jim Webb. Mr. Stark is a first year law student at the University of Virginia, a citizen journalist, and a marine.

On Tuesday, October 31, 2006 Mr. Stark confronted George Allen with some pointed questions: “Why did you spit on your first wife?” He also wanted to know why Allen’s divorce proceedings were sealed, why details of his arrest records (two arrests) are sealed, and why Allen wouldn’t disclose his financial statements. As Mr Stark began his questioning Allen’s staff physically grabbed Mr Stark, slung him around into a window, and threw him to the ground.

In a letter to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Mr. Stark states:

“… I will be pressing charges against George Allen and his surrogates later today. George Allen, at any time, could have stopped the fray. All he had to do was say, “This is not how my campaign is run. Take your hands off that man.” He could have ignored my questions. Instead he and his thugs chose violence. I spent four years in the Marine Corps. I’ll be damned if I’ll let my country be taken from me by thugs that are afraid of taking responsibility for themselves.

It just isn’t the America I know and love. Somebody needs to take a stand against those that would bully and intimidate their fellow citizens. That stand begins right here, right now.”

Jim Webb, the decorated war veteran and novelist has today taken the lead in the polls from Allen, leading by 3 points.
